Obituary for Bernard Basha

Mr. Bernard “Bernie” Basha of Carbonear, passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was 85 years old.

He leaves to mourn his loving family:

As well as a large circle of other loving relatives and friends.

Bernie will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was immensely proud of his family, thoroughly enjoyed the company of friends, diligently cared for his strawberry plants and always looked forward to brightening someone’s day with a candy. He had a kind and humble heart, a cheerful and dynamic personality and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Doctors: Howse, Peddle, Ahmad, Holmes, Goucher and Greenland for their exceptional medical intervention and treatment; and a very heartfelt thank you to the Sixth Floor nursing staff at Carbonear General Hospital whose excellent care, kindness and compassion provided much comfort.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Powell Dr, Carbonear on Monday: 7-9 P.M. and Tuesday: 2-5 & 7-9 P.M.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. from St. Patrick’s R.C. Church and Cemetery, Carbonear. A reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted and may be made in his loving memory to the Baccalieu Trail SPCA. Donations to be forwarded to the SPCA can be emailed to sladesfuneralhomenl@gmail.com
