Obituary for Charles Walsh

Passed peacefully away at home on Sunday, March 13, 2022 surrounded by his family, after a battle with cancer, Charles Walsh of Bay Roberts.

Leaving to mourn wife of 67 years: Doreen; his children: Derrick (Erin Dunne) Walsh, Denise (Rick) Mercer, Dianne (Byron) Mercer & Daphne Walsh; his grandchildren: Tina (Mike), Andrew (Michelle), Brittany (Curtis), Aaron (Shanda), Jamie (Jodie), Kerri (Ian), Shayne (Danielle) & Kristian (Daryn); his great grandchildren: Keeley, Tasia, Isaiah, Gibson, Theo, Patience, Theo, Isaac, Anna, Kason & Parker; his sisters-in-law: Carol, Sharon & Christine and his pal cat Moo. He is predeceased by his parents: George Sr. & Jane Walsh and his siblings: Irene (Harold), Minnie, Doug, George & Joe.

Charlie has a long career on the Great Lakes, with Misener Transportation on the S/S J.N. McWatters as Wheelsman. Even though away from home for extended periods and missing his family, he truly enjoyed working on the Lakes meeting and working with a great group of shipmates. Upon retirement he spent a lot of time camping and fishing, two of his favourite hobbies. He was a great storyteller, talking about all the different ports he visited and people he worked with and met along the way. He will be very much missed.

In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in his loving memory to the Baccalieu Trail SPCA.
