Obituary

Mr. Frederick H. Evely of Carboenar passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on Friday, May 22, 2020. Mr. Evely was 79 years old.

Today I’ll take my final walk
Down the road of memories
I’ll smell the freshness of salt air
And feel the ocean breeze

I’ll hear the distant echoing
Of fishermen at sea
I’ll take my final walk today
Down the road of memories

Each step that I have forward
Brings me closer to the past
The time of boys in rubber boots
With nets all set to cast

Salted fish upon the flake
Oh, what a sight to see
Yes, I’ll take my final walk today
Down the road of memories

As I near the ending of the road
I’ll turn and look behind
As the years of precious moments
Come flooding to my mind

Those carefree days in Crockers Cove
Nevermore to see
For today I take my final walk
Down the road of memories

Today we have heavy hearts as we learned of the passing of a great friend and a true example of what it means to be a Newfoundlander. From the time we originally met in Campbellford Ontario to the visits. At Fred and Sharons home in Carbonear NL we were always made to feel welcome and never left with an empty stomach but always left with a sore belly from laughing and having fun as Fred recounted his life experiences. He was truly a kind person with a heart of gold.
Fred will be missed by more than he could have expected. Our prayers are with Sharon and the family.
The poem chosen for Fred’s obituary could not have described him better. He is at peace now and has left his mark on so many of us to do good things for all we meet.
Larry and Shari Davis.
