Obituary for Jean Ash
Mrs. Georgina “Jean” Ash (Penney) of Bay Roberts passed peacefully away at the Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Mrs. Ash was 82 years old.
She leaves to mourn her loving family:
Husband: John Kevin Ash
Children: Stephen (Corinne), Maxwell (Marylou), Janice (Kevin) & Jason (Sara)
Grandchildren: Colby, Georgia, Jarod, Gillian, Clarey, Max & Morgan
Sister: Edna
Siblings-in-law: Ellie, Joan (Winston), Brian (Debbie), Shelley & David
And a large circle of relatives and friends

Georgina (Jean) was born on October 26, 1940 to George and Bertha Penny. She graduated from high school in Keels Bonavista then went on to study education at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Jean started her teaching career at Charleston, Newfoundland, went on to have a 25 year teaching career and achieved her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Special Education.
Jean and her loving husband, Kevin, met in 1960 at Bell Island and went on to have 6 children. Kevin and Jean enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with family and friends. Jean enjoyed singing with the Baccalieu Chorus, volunteering with the church, playing cards (whether rain, sleet or snow) with her lifelong friends, playing accordion, and spending time with her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the home care workers, especially Crystal Roberts, and the nurses and staff of Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion for their loving and tender care.
There will be family service to celebrate Jean's life at a later date. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be given to the Alzheimer’s Society.
