Obituary for Hedley "Eddie" Lewis Reid

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Hedley Lewis Reid of Spaniards Bay. August 9, 1938 - May 12, 2022 age 83 after a lengthy illness.

He leaves to mourn his wife Bernice of 57 years (nee Oates); 5 children: Michelle Reid-Loveless (Ralph), Roger Reid (Yvonne), Dale Walker (Paul), Greg Reid (Wanda Whalen) and Amanda Reid (Scott Billard); 11 Grandchildren: Gregory Cook, Bradley Cook, Amber Cook, Alexander Walker, Riley Fewer, Ryan Fewer, Joel Fewer, Kyle Reid, Katie Reid, Sarah Reid & Barry Reid and his Aunt Effie Vokey.

Hedley is pre-deceased by his parents Hedley and Maude Reid and his siblings: Lorraine, Mary, Jack & Irene.

He was named after his father but everyone called him Ed or Eddie. He was a true lover of animals always had a dog by his side. His horse Velvet that he taught to bow, shake hands and take off his hat. He was always outside busy doing something whether it was under the hood of a car, driving a tractor, plowing a potato field, saddling up Velvet for a ride. He wasn’t one to sit around at home, always busy doing something.

We would like to thank the 6th floor staff at Carbonear General Hospital, 1st Floor at the PTE Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion Nursing Home. The staff have all been wonderful during this difficult time. A special mention to Melanie for your professional and gentle care of our father. Thank you to the public Health nurses in Bay Roberts for your countless visits to our home for your continuous care. We appreciate all that you have all done to help with his ongoing care.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations in his memory are graciously accepted by his family. There will be no service at this time, cremation has taken place. We will be having a private celebration of his life at a later date.
