Obituary for Charlie White

John Charles (Charlie) White passed away into the arms of his Saviour at Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at age 78, following a courageous 1-year battle with cancer.

One month shy of their 50th wedding anniversary (April 12, 1971), devoted husband to his loving and faithful bride, Lois (Bradbury) White. A lifelong journey that thrived on love, commitment, trust, respect, and companionship.

Loving father of Ian (Suzanne) White, Charlene (Leslie) Howlett, and Brandt (Angie) White.
Proud Poppy and Papa of Naomi, Sarah, Rachel, Caelan, Joseph, Leah, and Eli.
Predeceased by parents Joseph (1996) and Violet White (1992), brother Hubert White (2015), sister Shirley White (2010), and parents-in-law Hayward (1996) and Clarice Bradbury (2005). Survived by brother Wallace (Judy) White, sister-in law Sylvia White, and brother-in-law George (Barbara) Bradbury.
Loving uncle to Marilyn (Shawn) Baker, Charlie (Jodie) White, Francine (Jason) King, Jason (Jennifer) White, Bill Howe (Beverly), Barbara (Nelson) White, Daphne (Russel) Voth, Paul (Paula) Bradbury, Neil (Heidi) Bradbury, Allison (Andrew) Pike. Loving great uncle and great-great uncle to many nieces and nephews. A dear cousin and friend to many. Special friends to Tony and Ella Baldwin and Allan and Clara Babcock.

Charlie was a faithful member of the Gideons for 48 years and enjoyed serving as the church choir director for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed life, his family, and friends, and of course, there was nothing quite like a bowl of ice cream.

Charlie was an extremely kind man with a loving heart, and a very strong faith in God. He was a man of few words but the words he spoke were always kind, meaningful and loving. He lived life to the fullest with his dedication to his Saviour and his beloved family.

A private family burial will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Victoria. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Gideons would be appreciated by the family.

Heartfelt thanks to Charlie’s Community Health team, Denise, John, Tyler, and Charlene, Dr. Christopher Peddle, Dr. Glennis Howse and the 6th floor staff at Carbonear General Hospital.

Charlie now sings his favourite chorus with his Lord:
O for a thousand tongues to sing, praises unto Thee,
O for a thousand hands to raise, in honour to the King.
