Obituary for Marcella Johnston
Mom
It is with a heavy heart as I write this post:
Mom, Mary “Marcella” Johnston passed away peacefully at Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion in Carbonear on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the age of 92.
Leaving to mourn are her children: Cathy -Bishop’s Cove, Rob (Nicole) - Labrador City, Dave (Jerianne) - Union, ON and Tom-St. Thomas ON, and grandsons Chas - Ottawa and Kyle – Union, ON. Brother, Clarence (Catherine) Labrador City, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents, husband and sisters.
The most important thing to mom was her family and Newfoundland. She moved from Grates Cove to St. John’s at a young age and immigrated to Toronto before 1949, where she worked and raised her family before retiring back to Newfoundland. She spent many years having her summers in Newfoundland and winters in Ontario or Florida. Mom loved to quilt, garden, knit and crochet.
Thank you to the staff at – 1 south when she was admitted and especially 4 north where she’s been for quite some time.
Special thanks to her friends Eva and Lidy. I’d be lost without you.
Rest In Peace now mom.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral.
