Obituary for Norman William Hillier

The family of the late Norman William Hillier announce his passing on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

Norman William Hillier, born in 1948 on Brunette Island, Fortune Bay. His banking career started as a young man saving his money to be able to build a life of his own. He started working as a bank teller with Scotiabank in 1967, working his way through all positions, finishing his 37 year career as a branch manager. Throughout his career he had many transfers, during one of which he met the love of his life, Dianne. Norm and Dianne married in 1970 and over the 53 years together they had many great adventures.

Norm is survived by his wife Dianne; son: Scott (Lee); daughter: Cathy (Todd) as well as five grandchildren: Stephen (Rachel), Sarah (Theron), Emma, Samantha & Suri; two great grandchildren: Parker & Jaxon and sister: Elizabeth (Bruce) Burt. He was very proud of the family he and Dianne built and was known for telling many stories about each one of them with much pride and admiration.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, L.T. Stick Drive, Bay Roberts on Saturday: 2-3:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation-NL or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation-NL.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 4 P.M. from Slade’s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

Masks will be required for visitation and the funeral service.
