Olive Marguerite Grunert (Stirling), Christian, Medical Secretary, RNA, Mother of six adult children and Grandmother to 10 Grandchildren, aged 78 years, of Corner Brook, NL, passed peacefully away on October 7, 2020 at 4:03 pm at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion Long Term Care Facility in Carbonear surrounded by husband Ben and family members.
A devout Christian, Olive was born on July 26, 1942 to parents Anna Tucker, Of St Philips, and Sam Stirling, of Corner Brook, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.
A loving Mother of six children, Olive had the singing voice of an angel, sang in many choirs, enjoyed acting, loved playing her guitar and wrote many wonderful articles for her beloved Anglican Churchman and other forums.
While constantly caring for her children and filling her home with the smell of fresh home baked bread and baked beans, Olive could also be found helping and assisting others. She is most proud of being a driving force for the first Medical Clinic and working hard with Mr. Bill Churchill in bringing about a huge community park in her beloved community of Portugal Cove-St Philips She took great pride in helping others and instilling the same feelings in her children. We will miss her greatly.
Her shouts from the front steps of her home on Hardings Hill to her children to come home for supper are memories that will bring smiles to many people as her strong voice could be heard by all no matter how near or far. We all smile in the warmth of her memory.
