The mold was broken on June 14th, 1940 when Randell Adams was born in Upper Island Cove, NL.
If one can believe the stories, his young life was filled with mischief, lots of laughter and the stuff that resilience is made of. He was a man who enjoyed living on his own terms and some might think that his favorite company was a horse or a sheep.

His wife of 59+ years, Evelyn will miss holding his hand on their journey through life. When his children Brenda (Ted) Lynch, Debbie Adams, Randy (Kelly) Adams, Hayward (Trish) Adams and Cindy (Wayne) Parsons would complain that daddy smelled like sheep, she would laugh and tell them that it smelled as good as aftershave to her. Their love for one another showed up in everything they did.

You can tell a lot about a persons’ character by the way he lives his life. In 1975, when a car accident took the life of his brother Will (Vivian) Adams, it forever changed his life. Evelyn suffered a traumatic brain injury that presented them with challenges that required strength and dedication. If anything, he loved her more and no matter how many challenges they faced in life, in his eyes she was the model he had married in 1961.

Partners in life through thick and thin, many new goats, visits to barns together and love for one another.
I have no doubt that today, Randell is not in a golden city on a hill but in a state of the art barn with a beautiful mare and award winning goats whiling away his time “in the barn” until he can be reunited with the love of his life. He’s likely telling stories to those who have gone before him – his parents Roland and Ethel (Menchions) Adams, his brothers Will (Vivian) Adams, Josiah Adams, parents-in-law Nath & Mary Coombs, brother-in-laws John (Emmie) Roberts, Aiden (Rachel) McCarthy, Hayward (Hazel) Coombs and Don Coombs. You can rest assured that the great storyteller is keeping them laughing.

Special mention goes out to his grandchildren Shane, Shantel, Alyssa, Ayden, Ander, Ashley, Melissa and great-children Charlie, Alexa and Russell who loved their Old Papa. Sisters Rachel, Emmie and Maria held special places in his heart. Too many friends to mention but Gordon Janes, he loves you like a brother.

Many thanks go to the staff and medical team at the Josiah Squibb Memorial Long Term Care in Carbonear. There is no doubt that when it comes to care, there was nothing finer. The family have always felt grateful that he was in good hands, that they respected who he was as a person and we know that we were blessed to have care provided in the community, close to home by a team with a beautiful heart. We are grateful.

To the Adams family. So sorry for your loss. I will always remember my visits with your father. We used to have great chats especially chats about his animals. I have missed my daily visits to his house and will now miss my visits to see him at the home. We will always cherish the memories we have of your father.
