Obituary for Vincent Argo Drover

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Vincent Argo Drover, age 72, who came into this world on July 24th, 1949, and completed his life journey on March 10th, 2022.

Vincent was born in Portugal Cove and fostered by two wonderful parents, Edna and Jordan Picco from Witch Hazel Road, St. Philips. Here, he received much love and care until he left to reside in Montreal, where he lived for over five decades, working in the hotel industry.

In 2016, Vincent returned to his beloved Newfoundland and resided at the Bay Roberts Retirement Centre. He spent the last six months at the Carbonear Long Term Care Centre (Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion).
Vincent was predeceased by his parents; and leaves with cherished memories and affection, his brothers Robert Saunders (Lisa) and Tom Greeley, nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Kim Ploughman & special friends Muriel & Dale.

While at the Bay Roberts Retirement Home, Vincent made a special friendship with Irving Stanford, which added much joy and companionship to his life. The two buddies held a special bond and cherished each other’s company. Inseparable, Irving would daily wheel Vincent in his wheelchair across the road for their special treats of Tim’s coffee and donuts, cigarettes and lotto tickets. They took pleasure in their simple joys of life and in each other’s company.

The family is thankful and ever grateful to the dedicated staff at both care homes for their professional and compassionate care of Vincent.

Vincent will be cremated and laid to rest near his parents, who no doubt welcomed their son with open arms as they did while on earth.

Let go, into the clear light, trust it, merge with it.
It is your own true nature, it is home.
